Holiday Family Photos: Work Backward From Your Card Deadline

Holiday-card timing includes more than the day of the photo session. Gallery delivery, choosing a photograph, checking the card crop, placing the order, and waiting for printing and shipping are separate steps. Begin with the date you want finished cards in hand, then leave room for each decision rather than assuming the gallery deadline is the mailing deadline.

Separate the photography and print timelines

An edited digital gallery does not include the time a card company needs to manufacture and deliver an order. Check the printer’s current production estimates and shipping options before deciding how late a session can be. Do not assume an expedited shipping option also speeds up printing.

If cards are needed for a gathering or a specific mailing date, put that actual date in the booking notes. The studio can discuss the requested photography timeline before confirming the reservation.

Understand the seasonal editing target

For sessions booked November 6 through December 4, 2026, Orange County Portraits aims to deliver edited galleries within 72 hours of the session. This is a seasonal turnaround estimate, not a guaranteed deadline. Seasonal demand or additional editing requests may affect delivery.

The booking window determines eligibility for this target. It does not create a guarantee that cards or gifts will arrive by a holiday. Confirm timing expectations with the studio, and keep print-production and delivery buffers in the plan.

Decide what the card needs

A horizontal design with space for text may need a different composition from a tight vertical portrait. Bring a screenshot of a preferred card layout if one has already been chosen. Treat it as a useful reference while allowing the session to include photographs beyond the card.

Check the printer’s preview carefully. Face placement, trim areas, and text overlays can change the usable crop. Avoid placing important details close to an edge that may be cut during production.

Keep ordering choices simple

Included personal printing permission allows clients to create and order holiday cards through their chosen provider. Studio-designed cards are optional. Physical cards and other printed products are purchased separately, and larger prints, albums, canvases, and wall art are ordered through the studio.

A focused 15-minute Essential session includes 10 edited images and may suit a small holiday update. Choose a longer collection if warm-up time or more family combinations matter. Review the estimate, required retainer, and separate confirmation process before considering the session reserved.

Collection details and policies are current as of this guide’s date. Review the current estimate and accepted agreement for the session.
