Family Photos With Pets: Two Are Included
Pets are part of the family story, and the session plan should give them a clear place in it. Orange County Portraits includes up to two pets at no additional charge where the location permits them. Tell the studio their number and type before booking so the setting, pace, and handling plan can be reviewed.
Confirm the location’s rules
A place that allows people does not necessarily allow pets in every area or at every time. Beach, park, trail, and rental-studio rules can differ. The studio will review the proposed setting before confirmation; do not arrive assuming an exception will be made.
More than two pets require advance review and a separate quote. Any additional arrangements should be discussed before payment is requested. The website does not automatically add an unapproved pet surcharge.
Bring the equipment that supports handling
Bring the pet’s usual secure leash or carrier, water, cleanup supplies, and familiar rewards if appropriate. A simple collar or harness that fits comfortably is more useful than a new accessory that the pet has never worn.
Describe practical needs in the notes, such as discomfort around other animals or difficulty remaining near the family. A session should not depend on removing safety equipment. Owners remain responsible for control and for following venue rules.
Arrange a helper for people-only photographs
A trusted handler can stay with the pet while the family is photographed without them. This is particularly helpful when parents are also supporting young children. The helper should be someone who can manage the animal without pulling attention away from every frame.
Plan the priority pet photographs early enough to allow a break afterward if needed. A few successful interactions may be more meaningful than asking the pet to repeat a position throughout the session.
Keep the expectations flexible
The pet does not need to look at the camera in every photograph. A child resting a hand on a familiar dog or the family walking together can show the relationship more naturally. Explain any essential group photograph while allowing room for movement.
Choose collection length based on the whole family’s needs. A focused 20-minute session has limited room for handling changes; a longer session may offer more breathing room. The final plan, location, any fees, and the retainer are reviewed before the separate confirmation email establishes the reservation.
Collection details and policies are current as of this guide’s date. Review the current estimate and accepted agreement for the session.
