California Girls in Massachusetts
Ok, so the colors probably won’t be this beautiful while I’m in Massachusetts and Connecticut early September, but I’m looking forward to a change of scenery and a chance to visit my old haunts. If you are a past MA client or would like your chance to be a MA client, email me for a session 9/12-9/15. Travel sessions start at $500 and include digital files. Can’t wait for our visit!
California Summer Portrait
Now that summer is upon us I have a break from school and am able to concentrate a bit more on offering photography sessions (and updating this blog!). Every once and a while to flex my artistic muscle—which allows me to continue to shoot fresh and creative portraits for my clients—I get together with a bunch of local Southern California photographers to play with models or our own kids and just create for fun. I was able to get this portrait of my own girls with props provided by the
fabulous Los Angeles photographer Je Neuhaus. I’m now inspired to try new things and take more artistic wall-ready portraits of my own children and my clients. I always like my sessions to be a partnership with those I photograph—if you have something you’d like to try out in your own portraits, please let me know. I look forward to creating art with you!
I've been trying to get my footing with the new baby and I'm sorry that blog posting has suffered. I'd love to share with you two families that had recent sessions in the studio.
I really enjoyed meeting T, J, and L. What a fabulous little family! Big brother was so great w/his younger siblings and all three were really naturals in front of the camera with a fantastic, easy-going spirit.
The E. family was also a lot of fun and although skeptical at first, mom and dad went along w/my silly suggestions and we got a portrait I love (I hope you do too!).
and aren't these two the coolest? I adored this family's style and closeness.
Some of you may have noticed that my award-winning images from PPAM incorporated textures into the image background. This is a hot technique among portrait photographers today. Some of you may also know that we’ve been living among house renovations since we moved in. At least our most recent bathroom demo provided some interesting textures!
Just to give you an idea, here is a quick play with a snapshot of my daughter (she’s into acting lately, and is making her "angry" face):

Also, a photographer friend of mine shared this great find. It’s a gallery-rail style frame set perfect for displaying your session images in a modern and organized way!

Meet T. She isn’t an
ear to ear grin for no reason kind of girl, but I think her eyes speak to her
spirit as much as a big smile would.
