The weather here has kept me from shooting outdoors, so I spent the evening making zucchini bread in the hopes of getting my four-year-old to eat some vegetables. It worked, though I had issues getting the middle to set without drying out the outside. I’ll have some senior portraits to share soon if the weather turns, but for now I thought I’d display my culinary skills (or lack thereof). And just for fun, I included my Dutch “Photographer” mug that my wonderful husband bought on a business trip a few years ago.
She’s probably even a bit awkward as four-year-olds go, but my daughter does like to dance! Today was her last day of dance, drama and crafts camp at The Performing Arts Connection – I’m really hoping I can find a great place near Irvine for her to dance, and if I can partner with them to do headshots, like I’ve done for Sam, then that’s great too!

I’ve been invited to participate in a great silent auction for a women’s charity in Los Angeles this fall. I will reveal the details as we get closer to the event, but I’m excited to be contributing a fabulous, glamorous boudoir package to help out. I love shooting boudoir images and making women feel beautiful about themselves, and I think this kind of photography is a perfect compliment to raising money for issues affecting all of us gals!

It was great to see the T family again! I first photographed them almost three years ago and the boys have grown so much. They wanted shots by their lake, so we met just after seven this morning to capture the water before the sun became too bright.

and the littlest, whose birthday is soon was happy to cuddle with mom and dad for a picture. Happy fourth birthday!

and I’d be remiss if I didn’t thank my wonderful assistant Terri! Thanks Terri for your great eye on the light
I’m tickled and honored to have been nominated for Nickelodeon’s ParentsConnect Best Boston Photographer. It’s great to have recognition for the work I’ve done (and will continue to do through this summer!) in the Boston area. I look forward to bringing the same level of quality and customer care to my new clients in Southern California and returning a few times a year to visit family and photograph all of my great Massachusetts clients.
If you are a former client or a fan of my work, please vote for me:

you can vote every day through July! Thanks!

Wanted to share a little snapshot of C signing “more.” We are madly getting ready for the move, but I’ll try to check in as often as possible. And here is another sweet picture of my baby girl:

As I prepare my business for our move to California, I’ve had the opportunity to reflect on what makes me unique as a photographer and what skills I’ve honed as I’ve grown my business. With this in mind, I’ve launched a few subpages on this blog dedicated to the craft of portrait photography. I plan to add articles, Photoshop tutorial videos and little tips and tricks to inform (or maybe just entertain) my fellow photographers.
The first article, one on my particular strong point, producing a flattering portrait is up now. Enjoy! I’d love to hear your feedback.
K was kind enough to let me shoot her session while my workshop participants watched (and joined in!). Here's a quick one for blog-land. Thanks K for being such a great sport!
btw, this was my 'winter' set that everybody loves…I keep meaning to take it down, but clients keep requesting it!
My blog has been much neglected as I have returned to business from maternity leave and spent much of my time applying to (and now choosing among) graduate programs to begin this fall. I will be closing my studio at the end of this month and moving my family out of New England later in the summer to begin my PhD studies in Educational Psychology.
I wanted to do something creative with my studio equipment and use the knowledge and skills I've gained as a photographer to help other aspiring portrait photographers and those already in business looking to learn about my unique processing and business perspective. With these goals in mind I am hosting a Strip My Studio Workshop at the end of this month. It's a two-day event with lots of shooting, Photoshop and marketing information culminating in a give-away where every participant gets a piece of great equipment! If you are interested, please visit the workshop page.
There are a few studio sessions left before I close my studio doors at the end of April and I am currently booking on-location sessions through May and June with the possibility of availability in July. To read more about special prices during this transition time read my Moving Announcement. I'd love to see some returning clients before I leave and I'm especially looking forward to any 2010 seniors who would like to get some of the last Photography by Teya senior sessions.
I will be continuing my business on a very part-time basis after my move (location TBA next week!) and will be sharing a new batch of sessions with blog viewers in the fall. Thank you for reading and please contact me with any questions, advice or session inquiries. I have a number of recent sessions to post on here and will be adding them on in the coming days – for now I'll post a recent snap of my girls together – they are getting so big!
