Some of you may have noticed that my award-winning images from PPAM incorporated textures into the image background. This is a hot technique among portrait photographers today. Some of you may also know that we’ve been living among house renovations since we moved in. At least our most recent bathroom demo provided some interesting textures!
Just to give you an idea, here is a quick play with a snapshot of my daughter (she’s into acting lately, and is making her "angry" face):

Also, a photographer friend of mine shared this great find. It’s a gallery-rail style frame set perfect for displaying your session images in a modern and organized way!

Three of my last four sessions have been with families with only boys. I have to admit that sometimes I have a hard time photographing them – if only because I’m laughing so hard myself. I love their energy and their sense of humor: just about everything becomes silly.
Here is one of my recent families. I was delighted to spend an evening last weekend with them:

and I loved that mom told me about her tree climbing days and happily encouraged the boys to climb for some pictures:

Meet T. She isn’t an
ear to ear grin for no reason kind of girl, but I think her eyes speak to her
spirit as much as a big smile would.

Another set of three boys! These kids were so cute and happy to pose around their yard. Big brothers were as sweet as can be with the little one!

This little cutie and her family braved the cold and windy
weather yesterday evening to have a short session with me. The little
ones loved the stream and waterfall, and along with the standard family
pictures I was able to chase them around and catch a few, like this, lost in
rapture over a little phenomenon of nature: the trees blowing, the leaves
falling, or the sound of an overhead airplane
.

More like skateboards and snowboards and climbing
forts. This family had all of the above, and all
three boys, mom and dad were loads of fun and up for just about anything.

I had the pleasure of shooting Delylah (age 7) yesterday at one of my new favorite spots. She was happy to climb and run and tumble and I think we got some fabulous shots! Here is a quieter moment, which I was all to glad to capture.

This is Julia, 10, an actress (a working actress
), who I did a test shoot with this evening. We got kicked out of the park by the setting sun and the closing gates, but it was so much fun to work with her! Here’s one from our session:
